Coral Castle: One Of The Most Fascinating And Mysterious Buildings In Florida

MessageToEagle.com – Coral Castle – built near the city of Homestead (Florida, USA) – is one of the most fascinating and mysterious buildings of Florida.

It was constructed by a Latvian immigrant Edward Leedskalnin (1887-1951) in the first half of the twentieth century. Leedskalnin claimed to have discovered the secret of the Egyptian pyramids, namely, how they were built. It was his closely guarded secret.

Within his castle walls, built of coral blocks weighing approximately 15 tons each, he had a 22-ton obelisk, a 22-ton moon block, a 23-ton Jupiter block, a Saturn block, a 9-ton gate, a rocking chair that weighed 3-tons, and numerous puzzles. A huge 30-ton block, which he considered to be his major achievement, he crowned with a gable shaped rock.

What was his secret?

How was it possible for a five-foot tall, 110 pound man to achieve such an unbelievable goal without knowing techniques that are uncommon to our contemporary understanding of physics and mechanics?

He constructed special means, which helped him to lift and maneuver gigantic blocks of coral. Leedskalnin was able to quarry and construct an entire complex of monolithic blocks of coral in an amazing arrangement – his own Coral Castle, surrounded by an 8-foot wall of coral blocks weighing 15 tons each.

The largest single block in the park weighs 30 tons, and two of the monoliths are 25 feet high.
On average, the weight of a single block used in the Coral Castle was greater than those used to build the Great Pyramid. It took 28 years to build the complex, which consisted of a total of 1,100 tons of rock.

Each year, Coral Castle, which was built by one person working on it only at night – attracts thousands of tourists and although it looks like a relic, was established relatively recently. Visitors pay $ 15 for entry to admire Leedskalnin’s work.
When he lived people used to ask Leedskalnin, how he managed to move huge blocks. His enigmatic answer was: “It’s not hard if you know how to do it.”

After Edward Leedskalnin ‘s death, the castle passed into the hands of his relative and to this day remains a tourist attraction.

There were people who allegedly saw as the night the stones “float in the air” and land in carefully selected locations. Did he really discover the secrets of gravity?

Construction of the castle took 28 years – a long time for someone who supposedly knew the secrets of gravity, isn’t it?

However, most probably, no one ever did witness the construction of his castle. He worked hard under cover of darkness, building and furnishing his very eccentric home.

But if he really knew these secrets, so why the construction of his castle took so long time?
Although the material from which the castle was built – limestone – is lighter than it appears optically, its construction was a great challenge.

His great achievements have long amazed and surprised many technologists and engineers who compare them with those achieved by industrial workers today.

Some began to say that he had contacts with aliens, who revealed the secrets of levitation. Others claimed that he was a Freemason (several Masonic symbols have been found in the castle) and learned ancient occult secrets.

In Frank Joseph’s article published in the ‘Fate’ magazine article, we read,

‘alternative science investigators suggest that Leedskalnin somehow learned the secret of the ‘world grid,’ an invisible pattern of energy lines surrounding the Earth which concentrates points of telluric power where they intersect.
It was here, at one of these intersections of Earth energy, that he was supposedly able to move his prodigious stone blocks using the unseen power of our planet…’

Most probably we’ll never be able to uncover Leedskalnin’s secrets and the mystery of his work will not be solved.

After all, Coral Castle will remain a fascinating building, and Leedskalnin certainly was inborn genius who knew the secrets of mechanics and engineering.

And so, we’ll remember him and his castle in stone.
