Geomagnetic Activity Can Explain Bizarre Dreams

Cynthia McKanzie – MessageToEagle.com – The world of dreams is fascinating and sometimes scary, but how can science explain what is happening to us when we are asleep?

Have you ever had a series of bizarre dreams without understanding why you experience them? If your life is peaceful and nothing extraordinary has happened, then you shouldn’t have nightmares, or should you?

Geomagnetic Activity Can Explain Bizarre Dreams

The science behind nightmare is complicated and there can be several reasons why awful dreams haunt you. For example, people who suffer from sleep paralysis often encounter demons in their dreams.

Scientists say geomagnetic activity can explain bizarre dreams. What takes place on our planet affects us in more ways than we think, or even could have guessed. One could say that humans and all other living beings are united with Mother Earth. We depend on each other for survival. The Schumann resonance, the pulse of Mother Earth does affect our health.

Solar Flares Affect Human Health

A geomagnetic storm commonly referred to as a solar storm is a major disturbance of Earth’s magnetosphere. This process takes place when there is a very efficient exchange of energy from the solar wind into the space environment surrounding Earth. Solar storms are monitored closely by scientists because space weather can change conditions on Earth dramatically.

Giant solar flares directed at our planet can create long-lasting radiation storms that can harm satellites, communications systems, and even ground-based technologies and power grids. People are not expected to be in any danger, but this doesn’t mean we don’t feel the effects in our body and mind.

In another article on MessageToEagle.com we discussed how solar flares can affect human health. Several scientists have stated that solar storms desynchronize our circadian rhythm, in other words, our biological clock. The pineal gland in our brain is affected by electromagnetic activity.

This causes the gland to produce excess melatonin, and melatonin is the brain’s built-in “downer” that helps us sleep. Some researchers, such as for example Professor Raymond Wheeler of the University of Kansas and Russian scientist Alexander Chizhevsky have even suggested that solar storms can directly cause conflict, wars and even death among humans on Earth.

How Can Geomagnetic Activity Influence Our Dreams?

Studies show that there is a correlation between bizarre dreams and extreme geomagnetic activity.  According to Daniel Darren Lipnicki, a psychologist, who previously worked at Center for Space Medicine in Berlin, Germany and studied the effect of space weather, the Earth’s magnetic field can influence our dreams.

Researchers have found evidence that melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles influences dream bizarreness. Melatonin is primarily released by the pineal gland. Lipnicki’s research indicates that “daily disturbances of the earth’s magnetic field produce variations in geomagnetic activity (GMA) that are reportedly associated with widespread effects on human health and behavior. Some of these effects could be mediated by an established influence of GMA on the secretion of melatonin.”

During a period of 7 years, Lipnicki recorded his own dreams. While studying his 2387 written accounts he discovered that there was a connection between nightmares and solar activity. Low geomagnetic activity caused peculiar dreams and high geomagnetic activity led to more normal and ordinary dreams.

Lipnicki recalls that one of his most bizarre dreams was something quite extraordinary that didn’t make much sense. “I was stranded on a foreign coastline with a monkey that spoke English and a woman that suddenly became small, almost doll-sized. Then I was at home,” Lipnicki remembers.

Lipnicki’s research is a small step in the right direction. His study doesn’t offer definite proof all our nightmares can be blamed on geomagnetic activity. More studies and data is required to determine in what way our mind is affected by solar storms.

Dream research is still a rather new field that has only recently been taken more seriously by researchers. How space weather is affecting human health and behaviors is also a relatively new subject being investigated by scientists. Slowly, we now learn more about the connection between these two fields. It should be added that some researchers who support the lunar theory have also discovered that there is a connection between Moon cycles and human behavior.
