It is time to open the gates of a hidden, long forgotten empire.
Located in the remote, impenetrable and incompletely mapped rainforest of
the Mosquito Coast, the legendary city of Ciudad Blanca, or White City has finally been found!
The White City has often been linked to Central American mythology.
Some think it was the birthplace of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl.
Legend says the city is full of gold.
Over the years visitors to the jungle reported sightings of a large city lost in the rainforest, but these were nothing but rumors, not until now...
The ancient city was first recorded by Hernan Cortes who, in 1526, less than five years after vanquishing
the Aztecs, came to the colonial town of Trujillo, on the north coast of Honduras, to look for the fabled town of Hueitapalan,
literally, Old Land of Red Earth. Cortes search for this Central American El Dorado marks the beginning of the Ciudad Blanca legend,
as well as the first of many failed attempts to find this lost city.
With the time, it was slowly abandoned and forgotten.
Now a team from the University of Houston and the National Science Foundation (NSF) National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) has
mapped a remote region of Honduras that may contain the legendary lost city of Ciudad Blanca.
Archaeologists think they have discovered ruins of what may be the lost city of Ciudad Blanca.
An initial analysis of the LiDAR survey has identified ruins that could be those of Ciudad Blanca or other long-hidden sites.
The information provides archaeologists with the precise locations of features within fractions of meters for further study.
This is one of the first times this technique, called light detection and ranging (LiDAR), has been used to map ancient ruins.

LiDAR can be of great scientific use as the technology can be applied in other areas.
Beyond archaeology, LiDAR researchers at the National Science Foundation are looking to develop the technology for mapping disasters
using drones, for military spying and for tracking erosion under rivers and shallow parts of the ocean.
UTL project leader Steve Elkins has been fascinated with the Mosquitia rainforest since his first visit there nearly 20 years ago, but he
has been frustrated by the inability of satellite imagery to see under the extremely thick canopy.
He previously analyzed satellite imagery of the Mosquitia forest, looking for signs of the city.
Elkins contacted researchers at UH, NCALM and Geosensing Systems Engineering (GSE) Graduate Research Program to overcome this obstacle.

UH professors Ramesh L. Shrestha and William E. Carter have been working with refining and applying airborne LiDAR to unveil the surface of
Earth, primarily for earth scientists researching surface processes, for more than a decade.
As LiDAR improved, Elkins gathered private investors to pay for the National Science Foundation's laser mapping center to analyze three
areas he thought were especially promising. Elkins had originally approached the Honduran government with his idea, but government officials
said they knew the forest well and there wasn't anything there.
Over several days, NSF engineers flew over about 60 square miles (160 square kilometers) of forest for Elkins in their dual-engine Cessna planes.
At the end of every day, they sent the data to Carter, who was working out of West Virginia. Carter found the first signs of what appeared to
be human-made structures within five minutes of analyzing the data, he said
"I'm the only person right now on the planet that knows that there's these ruins," Carter recalled thinking when he saw what he said were
straight lines and right angles that don't normally appear in nature. "My wife walked in and looked over my shoulder and she was the second person to know."
Carter sent his analysis back to the archaeologists in Honduras, who agreed the structures were man-made. Now, Elkins, along with a team of
Honduran scientists, will visit the structures in person and determine what they are and how old they are. The LiDAR coordinates will help them
pinpoint exactly where to look in the thick jungle.
Many have tried to locate the legendary city of Ciudad Blanca. ABC TV American Sportsman video of the quest for Ciudad Blanca, a legendary lost city buried in the jungles of Honduras, Central America.
The discovery of the lost city of Ciudad Blanca could be the most important archeological discovery of the 21st century.
Judaculla Rock's Mystery -
Does It Contain A Secret Coded Message To Mankind?
This rock covered with undecipherable symbols is one of the greatest archaeological mysteries of the North America.
Neither scholars nor older residents have been able to decipher it. Neither do they know its true origin nor purpose.
Is it a prehistoric code? Some kind of secret message for future generations of humanity?
Out-Of-Place Artifact With DNA "Not Similar"
To Anything Ever Found On Earth
In the 30s of the twentieth century, a genuine, 900-year-old bone skull was discovered in an abandoned mine tunnel near Mexico's Copper Canyon.
It was very different and until now is a subject of scientific interest and debate regarding both the unusual shape and properties of the bone.
The Starchild skull does not resemble any of the skulls earlier analyzed by scientists. It represents something never seen before by science.
Is the Starchild Skull an "alien" artifact, which means foreign to normal human genetics - as we know it, or definitely not from planet Earth?
Secret Properties Of Water - Still A Mystery!
The true nature of water is unknown. It has a variety of absolutely fascinating properties, we still known very little about.
One of its most unique properties is that water has a memory and its behavior can be compared to our modern CD storing digital data or magnetic tape!
This ability, among many others, is particularly astonishing and still cannot be explained in terms of conventional science.
Mysterious Jade Artifact Of Unknown Origin Puzzles Scientists
Scientists are currently trying to determine the origin of a mysterious jade artifact recently discovered.
According to the reserachers this finding is very puzzling because the rock has never been described in the archaeological record of the region.
So, where does it come from? Researchers are uncertain and say the discovery is geochemically extraordinary!
Biblical Giant Body Of Water Is Mysteriously Disappearing
In Ezekiel 47:1-10, the prophet says that there will be a time in the future when the Dead Sea will be healed of its salty waters
by a stream flowing eastward from the Temple, and that the Sea will teem with fish.
Nothing grows in the immediate area of the Dead Sea and there is no animal life but the sea has attracted visitors for thousands of years...
Lost Civilization Beneath The Indian Ocean
Archaeologists believe there are ruins of an ancient lost civilization beneath the waters of the Indian Ocean.
Evidence suggest humans lived in the area in and around the Persian Gulf Oasis for over 100,000 years before the region was
swallowed up by the Indian Ocean about 8,000 years ago.
Mysterious Monolith At Gardom's Edge Was An Ancient Astronomical Calendar
Scientists have now reason to think that an ancient 4000-year-old stone monolith in England was likely an astronomical calendar, according to new archaeological evidence.
The 2.2 metre high monument, located in the Peak District National Park, has a striking, right-angled triangular shape that slants up towards geographic south.
The orientation and inclination of the slope is aligned to the altitude of the Sun at mid-summer.
What Changed The Green Sahara Into A Desert?
The Sahara, which is the world's largest desert covers one third of the African continent.
In ancient times, some thousand years ago, this vast area was fertile grassland.
Then something happened and the Green Sahara turned into a desert.
Fascinating Gigantic Creatures Today Totally Extinct
13,000 Years Ago Coexisted With Early Americans
The Ice Age world was, geologically, just a moment ago. Fascinating but today extinct giant animals, like mammoths, mastodons a
nd giant ground sloths, coexisted with early Americans in those days.
For millions of years, these animals survived, living in temperate climates and on the wind-swept lands of the frozen north –
great beasts weighing as much as eight tons and bearing tusks up to 16 feet long.
