Mysterious Fleet Of Giant Drones – Case Still Remains Unexplained

Don Wood – MessageToEagle.com – This is a mystery that is slowly becoming slightly embarrassing. How can a fleet of giant drones be clearly visible in the skies over several counties without anyone knowing who they belong to?

Sightings of the mysterious drones were initially reported over Colorado’s Phillips and Yuma counties. The Denver Post reported on December 24, 2019, that 17 large drones, each with an estimated wingspan of six feet, had been spotted flying over Colorado’s Phillips and Yuma counties at night for more than a week.

Now the sightings continue, and more reports of drone sighting have emerged from multiple additional counties as well as to neighboring Nebraska.

As many as 30 drones have been spotted in the sky at once, but the problem is that it’s unknown where the drones are coming from and nobody has come forward to claim responsibility.

The list of organizations that deny knowing anything about the giant drones includes the Federal Aviation Administration, the Air Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the United States Army Forces Command.

Phillips County Sheriff Thomas Elliott told the Post that the giant drones appeared each night around 7 p.m. and disappeared by 10 p.m. They maintained an altitude between 61 and 91 meters (200 and 300 feet), flying in square patterns of about 40 kilometers (25 miles).

“They’ve been doing a grid search, a grid pattern,” Elliott said. “They fly one square and then they fly another square.”

The Federal Aviation Administration has now launched an investigation into nighttime sightings of these unidentified flying drones.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor told Reuters that “multiple FAA divisions and government agencies are investigating these reports,” adding that the agency does not comment on the details of its open investigations.

No private companies nor government agencies have claimed the drones.

Deputies from Phillips and Yuma counties “tracked over 16 drones between the two counties. We believe that the drones, though startling, are not malicious in nature.”

Phillips County Sheriff Thomas Elliot said in a phone interview that the drones with blinking lights are flying in square grid patterns nearly every night between 5 and 10 p.m., and appear to be widening their path.

“They now have moved into Morgan County (Colorado) and have been spotted in Perkins County, Nebraska,” he said.

It is now up to FAA investigators to determine who is behind the launch of the drones.

Reuters reports that “Wyatt Harman, who chased the drones when they flew over his Washington County, Colorado, property, told NBC’s Today show on Tuesday that seeing the mysterious aircraft was “unnerving.”

“They can sit there and hover,” Harman said. “They can descend very fast. They can take off very fast.”

U.S. Senator Cory Gardner, a Colorado Republican and a member of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation and Space, said in a Tuesday statement that he had been in contact with the FAA.

“I’m encouraged that they’ve opened a full investigation to learn the source and purpose of the drones,” said Gardner, who is from Yuma County.

Last week, the FAA proposed requiring nearly all drones operating in U.S. airspace to be remotely tracked, a move which Sheriff Elliot said he would welcome.

“I could put all this to rest if whomever is doing this would come forward and identify themselves,” Elliot said.
