A spacecraft can fly to within 1.3 million miles of the sun (roughly the two-yard line).
However, the integrity of the shield degrades rapidly above 4,700°, and the cockpit would begin to cook. "I would advise turning away from the sun well
before that point," says Ralph McNutt, an engineer working on the heat shielding for NASA's Messenger, a new robotic Mercury probe.
If it gets much hotter than that, the spacecraft's shields would fail altogether, and the vehicle would combust in less than a minute.
There is also the problem of the spacesuit that cannot withstand such extreme temperature.
"The technology in our current space suits really isn't designed to withstand deep space," says Ralph McNutt.
The standard space suit will keep an astronaut relatively comfortable at external temperatures reaching up to 248°.
Heat coming off the Sun dissipates over distance, but a person drifting in space would begin encountering that kind of heat (the five-yard line) some three million miles from the sun.
"It would then be a matter of time before the astronaut died," McNutt says. Above 248°, the suit would transform into a close-fitting sauna-the temperature
would climb above 125° and the person would become dehydrated and pass out, eventually dying of heatstroke.
Adding to this, there is also the problem of radiation. These obstacles are the reason NASA has no plans to send a manned mission to the Sun.
Officially, NASA does not have such a craft that could fly in such proximity to the Sun. So, what are we seeing on this video?
Is dust on the telescope's lens, secret human spacecarft,
an unknown alien space craft observing the behavior of the Sun, or something else?
Danger From The Sun:
Is Earth's High-Tech Safe From The Sun's Fiery Flare-Ups?
The subject of monstrous solar flares and the the CMEs (coronal mass ejections) returns over and over again in news worldwide.
An enormous sunspot unleashed a powerful solar flare late Wednesday (May 16), triggering a radiation storm
intense enough to interfere with some satellites orbiting Earth, according to space weather experts.

"Something" Is Hiding Inside These Storm Clouds
During a light storm we expect to see flashes in the sky and evil-looking clouds.
What we certainly do not expect to see are objects hiding inside these clouds.
When you look at these videos and images, it appears as if there is a solid object in the middle of the clouds...
The images below show an unidentified flying object inside a storm cloud.
Unusual Sounds From Space Reported Worldwide - What Are They?
For almost a year now people from different countries have reported hearing strange sound from the sky.
Now scientists propose that what people are hearing is only a small fraction of the actual power of these sounds!
What are these sounds? What is causing them?
Bizarre Life-Forms Created Due To Uranium Exposure
It is not necessary to go to space to encounter bizarre alien life-forms. There are many strange creatures living right here on Earth.
Many of them are in places where you would never except to find anything alive...
Where Is The Hottest Place On Earth?
There are many extreme places on our wonderful Earth.
Among them is the hottest place on Earth. But where exactly is it?
To answer that question is not as easy as it might seem.
This question is in fact still widely debated because, how the temperature is measured plays an important role when scientists attempt to decide what place is hotter than the other.
Mysteries Of The Sun Explained In Video
Are you curious about the Sun? You now have an excellent chance to learn everything you ever wanted, and even more about our Sun and all its mysteries.
Five new videos called "Mysteries of the Sun" have been just released by NASA.
The videos describe the science of the sun and its effects on the solar system and Earth.
Amazing Photos Of Northern and Southern Lights
A long time ago, when our ancestors admired the beauty of the Northern and Southern Lights,
they thought the lights were spirits or souls dancing in the sky.
Sometimes the lights were believed to be Gods or Goddesses appearing to mortals...
The Northern and Southern Lights caused a range of emotions...
Still A Mystery: Are Baffling Clap Sounds Related To Aurora Borealis?
These strange sounds from aurora borealis have been reported by wilderness wanderers and other individuals but no connection has ever been proven.
For the first time, researchers at Aalto University in Finland have located where the sounds
associated with the northern lights are created.
Our Sun Does Not Originate From M 67
Astronomers have for several years considered star cluster M 67 located 2700 light years away, as a possible origin of our Sun.
This leading and commonly accepted theory must be now revisited.
Barbara Pichardo Ph.D. and her colleagues, Edmundo Moreno, Christine Allen, Luigi R. Bedin, Andrea Bellini, Luca Pasquini
of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico City Mexico conducted detailed computer simulations and searched for the Sun and
M 67 close encounters in the past.
