Most are familiar with Michel de Nostredame (or simply Nostradamus), a French astrologer and physician whose prophecies earned him fame and a loyal following during his lifetime, but have heard of another enigmatic man who is sometimes referred to as Nostradamus of Brittany.

We know plenty about Michel de Nostredame, but we possess very little information about Nostradamus of Brittany whose real name may have been Étienne Le Ray, or Er Roué Stevan, sometimes referred to King Stevan.

Étienne Le Ray is said to have lived during the reign of Louis XV, who was the King of France from 1 September 1715 until his death in 1774. How Étienne Le Ray gained his popularity is still debated, but he was a very unusual character whose behavior baffled anyone he came in contact with.
