Unsolved Mystery: Why Do Over 2,000 People Worldwide Have The Same Dream?

It is even stranger that over 2,000 people worldwide report having the same dream.

Who is the man so many people claim to have encountered in their dreams? Is there a scientific explanation that can shed light on these remarkable reports or are we dealing with yet another for the time being unsolved mystery?

We will leave it up to you to decide what to think of this peculiar story.

In order to understand the chain of events, we need to go back to the year 2006 when everything started.

According to Thisman.org, a website dedicated to solving his mystery, in January 2006, a patient visited her psychiatrist and told him about a strange dream involving the face of an unknown man.

This man, who the woman claimed she never met in real life, had repeatedly appeared in her dreams.

She also said that this unknown man had been giving her valuable life advice.

The psychiatrist put the issue aside and the portrait remained on his desk for some days.

Soon, another patient reported he had seen the same man in his dreams.

Like the woman the male patient also maintained that he had never encountered this man in waking life.

The story made the psychiatrist curios and he decided to send the portrait to some of his colleagues, who had patients with recurrent dreams.

Within a few months, four patients recognized the man as a frequent presence in their own dreams. All the patients referred to him as THIS MAN.

According to Thisman.org “from January 2006 until today, at least 2000 people have claimed they have seen this man in their dreams, in many cities all over the world: Los Angeles, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Tehran, Beijing, Rome, Barcelona, Stockholm, Paris, New Dehli, Moskow etc.

At the moment there is no ascertained relation or common trait among the people that have dreamed of seeing this man. Moreover, no living man has ever been recognized as resembling the man of the portrait by the people who have seen this man in their dreams.”

So, why do so many people across the world report seeing this man in their dreams? One possibility is that all these people are simply lying. If we assume that the reports are genuine, there are some theories that could explain the dreams.

One of them is the dream imitation theory according to which this phenomenon arises casually and progressively develops by imitation. Basically when people are exposed to this phenomenon they become so deeply impressed that they start seeing this man in their dreams.

According to Jung’s psychoanalytic theory, this man is an archetypal image belonging to the collective unconscious that can surface in times of hardship (emotional development, dramatic changes in our lives, stressful circumstances etc.) in particularly sensitive subjects.

There are also other theories attempting this curios phenomenon, but the truth is we do not have an answer to why all these people encountered THIS MAN in their dreams.
