Ancient Welsh Recipe Can Help Fight Food Poisoning

MessageToEagle.com – Not long ago, scientists suggested that the mead, known as the secret drink of the Vikings and Gods was most likely and ancient antibiotic.

There is still a lot to learn from the ancient people. Now, scientists have just discovered that an ancient Welsh Recipe can help find food poisoning.

Based on a 16th century Welsh drink that contains antibacterial properties, scientists at the Cardiff University now hope to create”super mead” using a mixture of herbs that can tackle salmonella.

Mead is an alcoholic drink made by fermenting honey with water.

“Back in the sixteenth century, there was a Welsh drink called metheglin. Metheglin translates into ‘healing liquor’.

Basically, it’s mead… alcoholic mead that we drink… combined with medicinal herbs.

What we are trying to do is identify those medicinal herbs that we could add to the mead to make a drink that was antibacterial. We’ve used modern science and modern techniques to actually identify the herbs, which have medicinal properties, test them in a laboratory, confirm that they actually do what they say on the tin, “ Professor Les Baille at the Cardiff University said.

The scientists say the formula could be added to a mead, gin, tea or other non-alcoholic drink.

The exact recipe is a secret, but the team hopes it’s not long before it’s more widely available.
